YoungWilliams Awarded Contract with Mississippi to Process Katrina Cases

In November 2006, YoungWilliams was awarded a contract with the State of Mississippi to provide legal services to establish paternity and child support orders on 10,000 cases for the 42 counties that were affected by Hurricane Katrina.

President Rob Wells remarked, “We are proud to partner with our home state in this important relief effort. Katrina was the largest public disaster in state history. It disrupted a number of public services and impacted many lives. Although our contribution is just a small part, we hope to make a big difference for the families who depend upon the services of the program.”

This is the second time YoungWilliams has provided child support services on behalf of the Mississippi Child Support Program. From 1994 to 2000, YoungWilliams served as a legal services subcontractor to the Program. During this project, YoungWilliams created its proprietary CS Legal Quality Control System, which it continues to refine and use on projects today. As an attorney himself, Rob Wells saw the need for a system to monitor the progress of legal actions and to determine whether or not cases were moving through the courts within appropriate timeframes. CS Legal, as the system is called, was designed to provide management and quality assurance processes that force accountability into both the legal department and normal case processing functions. It includes a variety of reports designed specifically for YoungWilliams managers to monitor each attorney’s caseload as cases move through the legal system.
