The Underground Economy
This is the report of a task force led by former Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Maura Corrigan to examine the underground economy, and how it deprives minor children of financial support from their parents. In addition, because the underground economy enables tax evasion for the same reasons that it hinders child support enforcement, this report will offer some recommendations that also apply to tax matters. This task force recommends three broad strategies for attacking the underground economy. They are: Prevention, Collaboration, and Enforcement.
