Adoptive parents are required to pay child support after they relinquish their parental rights to their adopted child. The adoptive parents take full legal responsibility for the child at the time of the adoption, and there is no legal action to terminate an adoption. The adoptive parents must pay child support until the child graduates from high school, turns 20, or is adopted again.
