State v. Coldwater (Oklahoma 2016)
In Oklahoma, parents may receive credit in a child support calculation for children from other relationships who they support. The court must determine the number of qualified children and that number will then be inserted on the child support calculation form. The court may not subtract an arbitrary amount of money from the parent’s gross income instead of this determination. The child support calculation also includes an adjustment for parenting time. It is possible that after this adjustment, a custodial parent with a higher gross income may owe child support to the non-custodial parent.
