State ex rel. Secretary of SRS v. Cunningham (Kansas 1997)

The legislature’s use of the word “assistance” in K.S.A. § 39-718b is intended to apply to all kinds of assistance, including medical assistance. Although the legislature furnished separate definitions for the terms “assistance” and “medical assistance” in K.S.A. § 39-702, the legislature did not intend to exclude medical assistance from the reimbursement liability provisions of K.S.A. § 39-718b.
